“The theatrical and communicative visits and walks of the Minister of Health to the islands increase the anger of the citizens. Because they don’t believe in public health, because they hate the National Health System (NHS) and that reminds PaSoK and Andreas Papandreou. The government of New Democracy is consciously destroying public health”, emphasized the candidate for the President of PaSoK, Michalis Katrinis from Kos.
Referring to the situation prevailing in the hospital but also in the field of public health in Kos, Mr. Katrinis pointed out: “The image of the abandonment of the Kos hospital is a shame. There must be an end to the obsolescence of public health in island regions. Those who promise a new hospital in Kos, like Mr. Mitsotakis, while there are no doctors in the existing hospital, are exposed.”
As Michalis Katrinis said, the Kos hospital has never been so understaffed, having reached the absolute limit of operation.
At the same time, the Antimachia Health Center on the island, fully equipped that could provide solutions to primary health care, has been inactive and without an organization and staff for years.
At the same time, he said that the large gaps in public health structures and hospitals on the islands lead to an increase in the number of air transports which means a huge financial burden for the public.
Michalis Katrinis pointed out that the number of airlifts in 2023 is close to 5,000, saying characteristically: “Let’s see what the 5,000 airlifts cost and compare this cost with the lower cost that would have been the establishment of real salary incentives for the doctors who serve on the islands but also for the recruitment of new doctors”.
Talking to the citizens, Michalis Katrinis pointed out that the creation of a Great Faction that will inspire and win is linked to the rebirth of the National Social Security System, which must become the great democratic conquest of 2030.
