Do you know the fake sextorsion? This somewhat barbaric name describes a phenomenon that affects us all very closely. While these scam attempts are not new, they are becoming more and more sophisticated, and above all, more and more credible. A recent alert from the Federal Office of Cybersecurity (FOSC) detailed how hackers work.
What is it? We’re talking about extortion. And there’s also a sexual component, hence the word “sextortion.” And since the hackers don’t actually have any real leverage to demand money, the phenomenon is described as fake sextorsion.
