Oleavirus OLV2 — Wikipédia

An article from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The latent olive virus 2, Oleavirus OLV2is a species of virus of the genus Oleavirus (family of Bromoviridae), of which it is the only species (monotypic genus). It is a linear, single-stranded, positive-sense RNA virus (ssRNA), classified in group IV of the Baltimore classification. This virus infects plants (phytovirus).

The generic name, ” Oleavirus “, derives from the genus name of the host plants, Oleathe olive tree[3].

Virions are non-enveloped particles 26 nm in diameter, quasi-spherical with icosahedral symmetry of type T=1, or bacilliform. The three genomic segments and a subgenomic RNA are encapsidated in distinct particles, forming virions of several types[4].

The segmented, tripartite genome consists of three single-stranded, linear, positive-sense RNA molecules, RNA1, RNA2, RNA3 of 3126, 2734 and 2438 nucleotides respectively. Each genomic segment has a tRNA-like structure at the 3′ end and a cap at the 5′ end.[4].
