A court in Paris extended Durov’s detention period

A Paris court has extended the detention of Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov: he will spend another 48 hours under arrest.

Details: Therefore, the detention time increased to 96 hours. In the remaining time, Durov must be prosecuted or released.

Notice:

At the same time, in several cases that include the investigation of particularly serious crimes, in France it is possible to extend the detention to 144 hours.

In addition, the police have the right to detain Durov for up to 20 more hours if he has to appear in court.

• Durov was arrested on Saturday night at Le Bourget airport in the suburbs of Paris.
• Investigators believe that Durov’s lack of cooperation with law enforcement agencies, as well as the tools offered by Telegram, make him an accomplice in drug trafficking, pedophile crimes and fraud, the publication says.
• In France, Durov is accused of not taking action against the criminal use of Telegram messages by its subscribers, not modeling the service and not cooperating with the investigation.
