The FESTin 2024 was the 15th edition of the FESTin film festival (officially: FESTin – Portuguese Language Traveling Film Festivalin English: Traveling Film Festival of the Portuguese Language), an annual film festival for films from the Portuguese-speaking area (Lusophonia).
It ran from 2 to 12 May 2024 in Lisbon, in the Who Turimim Camões High School Auditoriumdem Lisbon Forum and in Amazing Cinema in Almada, on the other bank of the Tejo opposite Lisbon. 38 films from Portugal, Brazil, East Timor, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau were shown, which were entered into the four competitions feature film, documentary film, short film and Shows the Different Accents of Lusophony (Portuguese for: film series The different accents of Lusophonia). There were also the traditional film series on Brazilian cinema (Brazilian Cinema Showcase) and children’s and youth films (LITTLE PARTY)and additionally the series FEAST+ for seniors.
The FESTin Connectionsthe meeting of filmmakers and film institutions from Portuguese-speaking countries, also took place again as part of the festival.
Opening film was Mamonas Assassinas – The Movie by Brazilian director Edson Spinello, about the popular Brazilian comedy rock band Mamonas Assassinas, whose members died in a plane crash in 1996. The final film Mussum – The Filmis by director Silvio Guindane deals with Brazilian pop culture, with the portrait of the Brazilian comedian Mussum (1941–1994).[1]
The traveling part of the festival took place in Cape Verde and Mozambique in September 2023, and in Brazil (Ceará and Rio de Janeiro) in October 2023.
