Les Norkôtières becomes a collaboration – Le Nord-Côtier

The Norkôtières are creators of moments outside, in happiness, with the desire to bring together the women of the North Shore. Regrouping goes to another level. Ilt is now a co-operative and also has one full-time employee.

From April, Norkôtières, launched during the pandemic, can present itself as an official collaboration.

The inauguration of this change was celebrated on Saturday at a dinner in the presence of city partners, businesses and organizations from the North Shore. For the organizing team, it was a way of saying thank you to the participants.

“The goal was to structure itself by being a collaboration,” explained Jeanne Barreau-Férard, communications coordinator.

The collaboration will allow his team to continue training and provide training, especially in first aid and hiking guides. “We want to meet demand, offer, credit and have a more diverse commitment. »

Ariane Charest, a bachelor in outdoor intervention (UQAC), has been coordinating the coop’s activities as a full-time employee since the beginning of August. In total, the collaboration has around fifteen volunteers and ambassadors throughout the Côte-Nord region.

“We want to bring outdoor sports to people, so that women can develop new skills,” said Ms. Barreau-Férard.

“The more activities we offer, the more demand there will be. People are waiting for us,” said the communications coordinator.

Women travel from all over the country. Some activities have around sixty participants.

“It’s about creating connections, friendships between them. The aspect of environmental awareness is also important to us. We want to promote the area,” said Jeanne Barreau-Férard.

The next activity already mentioned is a weekend at Walker Lake with kayaking, hiking and paddle on the program. It takes place from 6 to 8 September.

“We will have almost one activity per weekend, depending on the seasons and the cities,” the spokesperson said.
