National team captain Tomáš Souček scored a goal in the second round of the English football league to win West Ham 2:0 at Crystal Palace. He scored his 28th goal in the Premier League and caught up with Milan Baroš. Patrik Berger is the only Czech who has scored multiple times in the competition. He has ten more goals.
In the small London derby, defender Vladimír Coufal also started in West Ham’s starting line-up and in the 62nd minute he made way for Wan Bissak, a new reinforcement from Manchester United. Five minutes later, Souček opened the scoring. He partially made up for the week-old failure in the 100% chance in the match against Aston Villa.
But Souček did not enjoy the goal celebration very much. With team-mate Bowen, who closed the scoring a few minutes later, he was helping the ball-hander as he got trapped under the advertising banners. They gave way under the weight of the celebrating West Ham fans.

Brighton beat United, Arsenal won
Defending champions Manchester City beat the newcomers from Ipswich 4-1 thanks to Erling Haaland’s hat-trick and are 100 percent after two rounds. The rookie from Ipswich surprisingly took the lead in the seventh minute. Johnson’s through ball was fortunately sent into the net between the legs of goalkeeper Ederson by summer signing Szmodics from Blackburn. Citizens turned the tide in 191 seconds.
Everything started in the 12th minute from a Haaland penalty. Moments later, he took advantage of goalkeeper Murič’s mistake during Savinho’s pass, and De Bruyne did not hesitate in front of an empty net. Haaland then easily bypassed the Kosovar goalkeeper and made a lightning turn. The Norwegian gunner completed the hat-trick two minutes before the end.
After two rounds, Brighton also has the full number of points, having beaten Manchester United 2:1. In the 32nd minute, the home team took advantage of the weak defense of the guests, and Mitom’s low cross was tapped into the Welbeck net. United were able to quickly respond to their protégé’s goal, but Rashford’s finisher was offside. Brighton could have increased the lead at the beginning of the second half, but in the 52nd minute, defender Dalot kicked the ball towards the goal, and moments later Welbeck hit the crossbar with his head from a set piece. In the 60th minute, Manchester managed to equalise, when after a fast break with the help of a flowing defender, Diallo made his way through.
CUT: Brighton – Manchester United 2:1. Joao Pedro scored the home win in the end
In the fifth minute of regulation time, the visitors failed to clear the ball after a corner kick and substitute Adingra found an unguarded Joao Pedro at the back post to decide. Since the 2022/23 season, Manchester United have lost six games by goals in regulation time, more than any other team in the league. In the first 30 seasons of the Premier League, this happened to him only twice.
Next to Manchester City and Brighton, Arsenal also remained 100 percent after winning 2-0 at the Aston Villa stadium. The club from Birmingham soon lost the injured defender Cash, who was replaced by Nedeljkovic. After halftime, substitute Belgian Trossard decided. Three minutes after arriving on the pitch, he best found his way in the box after Saka’s dotted center and sent the ball into the counter movement of goalkeeper Martínez. In the 77th minute, Partey added insurance with a shot from behind the goal.
