Making music is in Raf Camora’s blood. The rapper and producer has been making music, singing and rapping since early childhood and was thus practically born with musical talent. Despite this, the Austrian never seems to be quite sure how to deal with his love of music.
Early in his career, but especially in recent years, Raf Camora has been latently on the verge of retiring. The 40-year-old has obviously always been very preoccupied with the thought of what his life should look like after his music career.
“Plastic palm trees”
Thoughts about a possible end to his rapping career did not only come up before his temporary retirement after “Zenith”. Raf Camora had actually already planned to change careers. After his album “Ghost” in 2016, he wanted to hang up the microphone.
Dank Bonez MC
The only reason it didn’t happen was Bonez MC. He wrote to Raf Camora and revealed that he was a huge fan of his music before they even knew each other personally. Only then did they decide to record their feature song “Geschichte” and then the collaboration album “Palmen aus Plastik”.
What happened after that doesn’t need to be detailed. But what would have happened if “Palmen aus Plastik” hadn’t been such a success? Raf Camora has now answered this question during a question and answer session at Modus Mio. And it becomes clear how decisive this one album really was.
As Raf explains, if he had failed, he probably wouldn’t have seen a future as a rapper. Instead, he had the option of working solely as a producer: “I don’t know if I would still be here in this form today. Maybe I would just be a producer.”
