Plenty of spectacle
The Zandvoort Formula 1 Grand Prix is one of the most iconic and historic races on the F1 calendar. Situated on the Dutch coast, the circuit offers a unique mix of challenging bends and elevation changes, combined with a spectacular dune setting. Zandvoort returned to the calendar in 2021 after a 36-year absence, thanks in part to the popularity of Dutch F1 star Max Verstappen.
The Tarzan bend
The circuit is known for its challenging layout, with famous corners such as the Tarzanbocht and the fast corner combination Scheivlak. The renewed version of the circuit, which was modified in 2020, now also includes banked corners, which provide extra spectacle.
Thousands of enthusiastic fans
The atmosphere in Zandvoort during the race weekend is unparalleled. Tens of thousands of enthusiastic fans, dressed in orange, cheer on their local hero Max Verstappen. The entire city breathes Formula 1, with festivities, performances, and a lively fan zone. The event attracts not only Dutch fans, but also visitors from all over the world, making it one of the most vibrant races on the calendar.
With its unique combination of history, modern adaptations and the passion of the Dutch fans, the F1 in Zandvoort is an event that you should not miss as an F1 fan.

Travel advice Amsterdam – Zandvoort
Please take into account the large crowds on the trains and at the stations. To avoid long waiting times at the ticket machines, advises the NS to buy a train ticket in advance or top up your balance. Checking in and out is also easy with a bank card.
Due to the expected crowds, you will not be able to take bikes on the trains to Amsterdam until 13:00 during the Formula 1 weekend. This restriction applies all day between Amsterdam and Zandvoort.
Helpful tips
- Load your e-tickets on your mobile in the NS app before departure. Printing is of course also an option.
- Don’t forget to bring a valid ID.
- Checking in is not necessary with an e-ticket. Gates with a barcode reader can be opened with the barcode on the e-ticket.
- Would you like to receive notifications about your train journey? Plan your journey from door to door in the NS app and register your train journey.
