One of those accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in Assam committed suicide by jumping into a pond

Dispur > One of the three accused in the gang rape case of a 14-year-old girl in Nagavil, Assam, committed suicide by jumping into a pond. The incident happened on Saturday morning. Tafazul Islam, the main accused who was arrested on Friday, escaped from police custody and jumped into the pond while running.

At 3.30am on Saturday, the accused Tafasul escaped from police custody and jumped into the pond while he was testifying at the crime scene. The police team searched but could not find him. The body of the accused was found after two hours.

A group that came to Bek attacked the boy who was coming to Sekel after school at 8pm on Thursday night. The child who was left unconscious on the side of the road was rescued by local residents and the police. The child is receiving treatment in a hospital in Nagaon.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made a comment implicating the Special Branch in the heinous crime. But people from different sections of society are unanimously protesting the incident. Protests were held in the state on Friday demanding that the accused be brought to justice as soon as possible.
