Andrey Gubin’s creative evening was held on August 23 in Sochi at the Sirius concert hall as part of the New Wave festival. The stars of Russian show business sang the famous hits of the artist.
The singer himself also arrived, which surprised many, as the singer had not appeared in public for several years. By his own admission, the last time he played was in 2005. Now he goes to the pool every day to swim because of back pain, otherwise he can’t breathe.
The creative night was opened by Philip Kirkorov with the song “My Darling”. At the end of his speech, he brought flowers to Gubin.
“Today all the flowers are for you,” said Kirkorov.
In response, Gubin ran up to the stage and lovingly kissed a colleague.
Grigory Leps played Gubin’s “Night” as if he had been singing this song all his life. Gubin’s tracks were also covered by Sergey Lazarev, ST, Bogdan Titomir, Artur Pirozhkov, Alexander Panayotov, Lyusya Chebotina, Khabib.
As Starhit reported, the singer gave a different response to the performances of his colleagues: he hit someone, kissed someone, laughed at someone with displeasure. But overall he seemed to enjoy the event.
On April 30, Gubin turned 50 years old. In the 90s, he was one of the most popular artists in Russia, releasing hits on an industrial scale. In the 2000s, Gubin suddenly disappeared from the public sphere.
In 2017, Gubin became a guest on the “Live Broadcast” show, where he said that in the mid-2000s, doctors diagnosed him with “left-sided prosopalgia” (a disease of the nervous system, due to that one experiences chronic pain in the face). He also said that unknown people were chasing him. In October 2021, Gubin said he was “gradually dying. ” In May 2024, he announced his retirement and said he still did not know to whom he would give his writings.
