The program for the celebration of the 246th anniversary of the founding of this city was announced, with various socio-cultural and sporting activities, which will run from August 24 to September 22 of this year.
The details were offered at a crowded meeting with the media in the William García auditorium of the municipal council.
The prestigious municipal engineer Martin Pantaleón highlighted the tireless work of a group of men and women who have joined together to rescue the traditional commemorative activities for the anniversary of this city.
This meant that the activities will start on August 24 with the opening of the traditional San Vicente sports games starting at six in the afternoon on the Pedro Emilio Reyes court in the Pueblo Nuevo sector.
He reported that on Friday the 30th there will be a media tour through various media outlets in the city of Jaya while on August 31st the popular hiking group Los Andariegos will leave from Duarte Park to tour part of the city.
He stressed that on Sunday, September 1, there will be a grand tour by Nicole Abreu’s cycling group, and a mass at the Santa Ana Cathedral.
On Thursday, September 4, the renowned educator Roberto Santos Hernández will give an interesting lecture on the history of San Francisco de Macorís, in the Juan XXIII parish hall beginning at six in the afternoon.
On Saturday the 7th, the Andariegos will once again set out from the Oncology Hospital to follow a new route, just as the horsemen will set out from the agricultural city, while on Sunday the 8th, the cyclists will once again set out from Rehabilitation next to the San Vicente de Paúl Hospital.
On Tuesday, September 10, there will be a conference by retired general Jorge Radhamés Ozuna, in the Juan 23 parish hall, on Thursday the 12th Iván Gatón will speak, while on Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th the Andariegos, Cyclists and Kabbalists will once again go out to tour various routes in this city.
Dr. Pelegrín Castillo will give a lecture at the Juan 23 parish hall on the feat of Captain Lozano Fermin during the Haitian invasion on Monday, November 16.
The activities will continue on Friday 20th at eight in the morning with the raising of the flag in front of the municipal town hall as well as the traditional Te Deum in the Santa Ana cathedral, a painting exhibition, a craft show, chocolate tasting, an Ecrefobi book activity and a toilet by the municipal music band.
The activities will culminate on September 22 with a painting exhibition in the Juan 23 hall and the awarding of awards to the most outstanding athletes and areas of the San Vicente games.
