The head of state of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in Kiev, the publication reports “Strana.ua”.

“Together with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, we honored the memory of the children whose lives were taken by Russian aggression. The children of every country deserve safety. We must make it possible,” the president wrote on his Telegram channel.

During the talks with Modi, Zelensky urged the Indian Prime Minister to come into the country in the statement after the peace conference in Switzerland.

India attended the meeting but did not sign the document. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs explained its decision as follows:

“In our opinion, only the options that are acceptable to both sides can bring about a lasting peace. According to this approach, we have decided to avoid contact with the any other communication or document taken in consequence of this summit.”

It is not known what Modi replied to Zelensky this time.

The Prime Minister of India also said “this is not a time of wars”.

“Many of the conversations were about the conflict. The Prime Minister spoke about our situation, which I have summarized for you: this is not a time of war. Dialogue and diplomacy are key. The solution is not found on the battlefield. He shared the broad view of the impact of this conflict on the Global South,” explained a spokesperson.
