I support the position of President Radev for the declassification of the transcript of the session of the CSNS on June 29, 2014. I myself have stated such a request more than once and publicly, because the topic is sensitive for society. The interests of not only the depositors of a bank are affected, but also the entire economic and fiscal stability of the state.
The publication of this transcript will make clear the position of the BSP at that moment, which was the only one defending the national interest. We went to the meeting with a clear goal – for the state to stand as a guarantor of the banking system, by declaring against an avunatura with clear political tasks. The meeting was not so much about KTB as about the risks facing the entire banking system and the economy.
GERB and DPS – wanted to introduce a bank holiday, an extraordinary session of the National Assembly was even planned to vote on it. KSNS was the final stage of ten days of shuttles and incredible pressure to announce the “holiday”. With such a decision, the economic and fiscal stability of the state would be exposed to enormous risk; to endanger the rights of millions of Bulgarian citizens, and the politically induced panic to collapse the banking system in our country.
The BSP strongly opposed this. In order to protect the Bulgarian citizens, my party made heavy compromises at its expense. But thanks to this shield, Bulgaria does not risk its stability and its image as an EU member state with a functioning banking system. Otherwise, the consequences for every Bulgarian and for the country as a whole would be catastrophic.
