Time change in California: When to adjust your clocks

The first Sunday in November the state of California, along with much of the United States, will put an end to daylight saving timestarting winter.

Daylight Saving Time (DST), also known as Daylight Saving Time (DST), has been implemented in the country for more than a century with the aim of maximizing the use of sunlight and reducing energy consumption.

The United States is one of approximately 70 countries around the world that adopt this methodology.

When will the time change in California?

On November 3rd, at 2amthe time change will take place, meaning that California residents will have to set their clocks back one hour to return them to 1 o’clock.

In the case of electronic devices such as smartphones, laptops and smart watches, the time is changed automatically.

But if you have analog watches, you have to do it manually.

In which states will there be no time change?

Most states in the United States make annual time adjustments, but there are exceptions, such as Hawaii and Arizona.

Hawaii observes Hawaiian Standard Time (HST) year-round, while most of Arizona follows Mountain Standard Time (MST), except for the Navajo Nation, which includes territories in Utah and New Mexico, where Daylight Saving Time is observed.

Additionally, certain U.S. dependencies, including American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Minor Outlying Islands, and the Virgin Islands, do not observe daylight saving time.

In recent years, 19 states have passed laws to make daylight saving time permanent, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Those states are: Alabama, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Opponents of daylight saving time have pointed out disadvantages such as an increase in obesity due to the reduction in natural light that prevents citizens from exercising outdoors, and a decrease in family time, among other negative factors.
