Inzoi, from PUBG developers Krafton, is gaining a lot of new fans thanks to a character creation demo that showcases very realistic graphics.
Krafton used the same strategy as for example Dragon’s Dogma 2 and others when they released the character creation part of the game early. The Inzoi: Character Studio is currently only available on Steam for a few days until August 25th.
The full version of Inzoi is expected in late 2024 and is described as “a life simulation where players become in-game gods, allowing them to change everything to their liking and experience endless new stories in different forms of life”.
Fans of The Sims have had their eye on the game before, but the character creator demo seems to have caught their eye. The Sims 4 itself is nearly a decade old, but beyond that, it has been criticized for only having basic features and charging users for countless expansion packs.

“I’m not looking back,” slickkpanther said on Reddit. “All I ever wanted in a life-sim was to walk around a nice town, look nice, maybe have a coffee, read a book and plant some flowers.
“It sounds like a lot, but it really isn’t. I’m not asking that every building be walkable. I’m not asking for hundreds of unique NPCs on the screen. I’m not even asking for a realistic weather system. What I want feels like a lot just because the bar was set so low in The Sims 4.”
Countless others agreed with him. “All life simulator fans should feel the same way as you,” one user said in the comments. “Because if Inzoi succeeded, it would probably at least put pressure on EA to improve. The lack of competition allowed EA to underachieve and monetize everything with The Sims 4. It’s easy for them to abuse fans when they don’t have better options to turn to.”
These comments come despite the fact that Inzoi is still in its infancy, and Krafton definitely has big plans for the game.
“Our goal at Inzoi is to create a world where creativity knows no bounds and where every choice leads to new and unexpected experiences,” said director and producer Hyungjun Kim. “We want players to enjoy not only the joy of creating their ideal life, but also the thrill of traversing a dynamic, evolving world.”
The fact that mod support will be available on day one and Inzoi will be supported after launch also says a lot of good things for life simulator fans.
Of course, many still have reservations, probably because the genre hasn’t been given much care and attention in recent years, but even those with doubts seem quietly optimistic.
“I’m looking forward to this game, but I have my concerns,” said Old-Cobbler402. “Overall, I think the game looks beautiful, but some of the visual aspects regarding Zois worry me. Some of them may be due to the game not being finished yet.’
They pointed out the difference in visuals between the character creator and the live mode, which essentially mimics what actual gameplay will look like. There are some other visual bugs as well, but fans are hoping that they will be ironed out before Inzoi launches.
However, only time will tell how it will look. Krafton only announced Inzoi in November 2023, and the release of the character creator suggests that development is going smoothly, but the end of 2024 is getting closer and closer, so a release date announcement should come soon.
