The essentials This Tuesday, August 20, Bretenoux closed its summer edition of the quayside bistros under a perfect sky, attracting many guests for a friendly and gourmet evening.
The weather was perfect, a sky without rain, neither too hot nor too cool for the last quayside bistro in Bretenoux on Tuesday, August 20! Once again, this event organized by the town’s festival committee was a success. Many people waited patiently, chatting with their neighbors, to take their slate after going to the checkout.
A winning formula
The slate, as every Tuesday at €10, was well filled with two portions of melon, country ham, a nice slice of roast pork with its pickle, a timbale of mixed salad, a cabécou, country bread and its fruit compote. At the drinks stand, with a choice of Glanes wine and drinks of all kinds, there was also the possibility of purchasing a cone of crispy chichis that two volunteers cut straight out of the machine to fry them on the spot! For this last Tuesday evening of the 2024 edition, it was the singer-musician Greg who was behind the microphone of the musical entertainment after alternating the other evenings, Yannnick Leyros and Françis Devaux.
Of the five quayside bistros of the summer, only one Tuesday was shunned by the public due to the heatwave, that of July 28. Otherwise, the giant meal shared with music in the open air on the banks of the Cère, won over between 300 and 360 guests on average, despite the abundance of entertainment offered in the surrounding area…
The president of the festival committee is satisfied, as are all the volunteers involved in these popular evenings in the bastide!
Heading for the votive festival
Now, after having thoroughly cleaned the slates and fridges, dismantled the stand on the quays and put everything away, the volunteers will be able to take off their aprons and gloves to, perhaps, take a breath and relax! But only for a short time, because after the two months of summer, the Bretenoux votive festival is approaching and it is the members of the festival committee who are preparing the ten flower floats for the big cavalcade on Sunday! So very quickly, they have to find hammers, scissors and crepe paper to finish and polish the floats prepared all year and currently waiting in their premises.
The municipality and the Bretenoux festival committee are expecting many of you for the votive festival from September 6 to 8, 2024!
