The 2024 edition of the US Open is no exception. The American Major, which begins this Monday, August 26, recently revealed the amounts that will be allocated to the players in action on the courts of Flushing Meadows. And it’s simply astronomical!
The total prize money reaches 75 million dollars, or nearly 68.6 million euros. This sum represents an increase of 15% compared to the 2023 vintage. And represents the largest purse ever awarded in the history of tennis.
The increase is reflected in all stages of the competition, men and women combined. Let us also remember that the latter receive exactly the same amount as their male counterparts. A tradition established in 1973.

Logically, it is the winners who will leave New York with the biggest check: we are talking about 3.6 million dollars (3.3 million euros). That is 20% more than last year.
Here is the complete table
Competition stage | Prize money (environ) |

The US Open has always been the most generous of the four Grand Slam tournaments. By comparison, this year Wimbledon distributed €59 million, Roland-Garros €53.5 million and the Australian Open a little less than at the Porte d’Auteuil.

It should also be noted that the American Federation (USTA) has decided to award a scholarship to wheelchair tennis players, equivalent to what they would have earned by participating in the event. This is in order to compensate for the absence of competition in the discipline, the Paralympic tournament taking place at the same time in Paris.
