“I am extremely happy that Antoni Stoyanov, the director of the Sofia Mathematical High School nominated by me, won this prestigious award. This is a recognition of his personal contribution to the development of Bulgarian students and their training in the skills so necessary today such as competitiveness, creativity, innovative thinking. The award is also a recognition of Bulgarian teachers, who educate children in traditional values such as love of science, patriotism and fighting spirit”. This was stated by MEP Momchil Nekov at the announcement of the winning nomination.
As director of the Sofia Mathematical High School and as a teacher, Antoni Stoyanov works hard for the development of young people as capable and educated European citizens. A large part of high school students continue their studies in Europe and realize themselves as successful specialists. Under the leadership of Stoyanov, the students won dozens of competitions. The school is a leader among the best and most desirable educational institutions. The highest number of high school graduates are among those awarded with a National Diploma from the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Momchil Nekov nominated Antoni Stoyanov for the European Parliament’s “European Citizen of the Year” award because of his high school achievements and his personal qualities as a successful manager in education. The award ceremony will take place on September 21 in Sofia.
