Barcelona are determined to sign a new left winger before the end of the summer transfer window.
Nico Williams is no longer an option, and more realistic targets are being drawn up – for now, the most likely to join the club is Juventus’ Federico Chiesa.
Chiesa is not in Thiago Motta’s plans, and with less than a year left on his contract, the 26-year-old will be on the move before the end of the month. He is open to the idea of joining Barcelona, with Sport now reporting that he has already agreed terms with the Catalan giants. He is willing to take a pay cut to make the move, reducing his salary to €4.5m per season.
Barca covets Juve star
According to Relevo, Barcelona have set a limit of €15m in their imminent negotiations with Juventus. They are determined not to pay more than that amount, although it has been reported that the Serie A giants are looking for closer to €20m.
The outlet reports that Barcelona have not yet submitted their opening offer, but that one is being prepared. Chiesa would be a very good low-cost signing if he can recapture the form he showed a few years ago – although that is a big ‘if’.
