A large fire broke out in a business premises in Dokkum. Due to the large amount of smoke that was released, an NL-alert was sent out in the area around the Frisian city.
The fire at an industrial estate on Hendoweg was reported to the fire department around 10:00. It was quickly scaled up from a medium fire to a very large fire. According to the fire department, the building is used for storing materials.
Several fire brigades are trying to prevent the adjacent buildings from being lost. As a precaution, dozens of vintage cars have been removed from an adjacent building.

Fire evolves
It is a raging fire and the fire continues to develop, writes Omrop Fryslân. The smoke is moving over the industrial estate towards the Weeshuislanden district. The fire department is calling on people to stay out of the smoke and to close windows and doors.
