To mark his 75th birthday, Otto is releasing a limited edition sneaker with Adidas. The Elevator Boys, Lena Mantler and comedy veteran and namesake Otto Waalkes are featured as testimonials.

The campaign runs until October 31, 2024 on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Digital-Out-of-Home and relies on a surprising combination: Waalkes delves into the world of influencers in short videos and becomes part of their humor.
For example, Otto tries on different outfits with Lena and sings with the Elevator Boys. Users can also try on the birthday sneaker digitally using their own Snapchat lens.
The campaign idea comes from Otto’s lead agency c/o Setzkorn Kemper, and First Dot was responsible for production under the direction of Markus Miarka. The Hamburg-based retail group is once again relying on the agency WongDoody for influencer marketing.
The white sneaker with a sole in Otto red is sold in a limited edition of 15,000 pieces via the company’s own app and online shop.

On the tongue of the shoe there is a QR code with a link to a promotion page. In addition to inspiration about the sneaker, customers will also find a competition with prizes from Otto, Adidas or Otto Waalkes.
In addition to the sneaker, OTTO is also releasing a limited number of 1,949 sneakers with Otto Waalkes’ signature and “Ottifanten” for its 75th birthday. This edition is not available for purchase. Instead, customers can win the sneakers in the app from September 2nd to 15th – and also have them personally signed.
From September 27th to 29th, there will be a pop-up store in downtown Hamburg. The limited edition sneakers can be tried on and purchased in the store in the Europapassage – including a meet & greet with Otto Waalkes.

But the retail group isn’t stopping at sneakers for its 75th anniversary: together with the Hamburg streetwear label Mojo, a limited, three-piece capsule collection with tees and sweatshirts is also being launched. Otto is giving the items of clothing exclusively to employees, speakers and (corporate) influencers.
One of the designs is also available in the online shop and in the Mojo store in Hamburg’s Sternschanze. You can win here too.
