We all knew that Black Myth: Wukong was one of the most anticipated games of the summer, but its reception by the PC community has far exceeded all expectations. The game from the Chinese company Game Science has burst onto Steam with force, to the point of having managed to beat a record that until now was held by another of the year’s phenomena, Palworld, and which we thought would take years to be surpassed. Only a few months have passed.
The “monkey ARPG” sets a new bar for single-player games
And shortly after its launch, in January of this year, Palworld reached a peak of 2,101,867 simultaneous players. and Steamsomething that seemed unattainable for a single-player title, and which at that time, was the highest figure achieved by a single-player game. As we said, they seemed like figures that would take a long time to be surpassed, but seven months later, Black Myth: Wukong has done so, and during this weekend it has managed to gather 2,223,179 players, a peak that surpasses Palworld, and therefore, other also titanic games such as Cyberpunk 2077 or Elden Ring.

In fact, at the time of writing, it is the most played game on Steam. This means that it is above the usual titles that lead this list, namely: Counter Strike 2, DOTA 2 and PUBG, which are hard to dethrone from a podium that they have practically monopolized. In fact, its current number of players is 2,183,810, a number that, although not reaching its peak, is still astronomical.
Black Myth: Wukong is now available on PC and PS5.
