An Iranian investigation found that the May helicopter crash that killed President Ebrahim Raisi was caused by bad weather and congestionIranian media reported, quoted by AFP.
The helicopter carrying Raisi, 63, and his entourage crashed on a fog-shrouded mountainside in northern Iran, killing the president and seven others. This led to and until early elections.
Fars news agency, citing a security source, said Iranian security forces had “absolute certainty that what happened was an accident.”
In May, Iran’s military also said that found no evidence for criminal activity in the crash that also killed Raisi’s foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
The case of Raisi’s helicopter crash has been completely closed by regulatory and security institutions.
“The security and intelligence services have completed their detailed investigations and have absolute certainty that what happened was an accident,” Fars reported.
Bad weather conditions and the inability of the helicopter to take off with additional passengers outside of safety protocols were cited as the main causes of the May 19 crash.
