He is not just independent, but he is a pivot for the guarantee of the independence of journalistic speech in the country, which is also written in the statute of CEM, as well as in the ethical rules of the guild”, Hristov emphasized.
He is categorical that legal regulations and ethical rules were violated by a member of the CEM, who is also a journalist. “This is absolutely unacceptable, it violates ethical, legal and basic principles of democracy. For the years of transition, we have at least won freedom of speech. A member of the CEM, he allows himself not to protect him, but to trample him in the most arrogant way possible. This is not an isolated precedent, but calls into question the work and style with which the CEM works, as soon as it admits such members,” the BSP statement states.
“A CEM member who engages in such behavior, his behavior is inconsistent with his place in this institution. The problem is also political. The PG of the BSP clearly states that it will support any journalistic initiative that is aimed at protecting freedom of speech and will strongly oppose their being trampled in any way. We will follow the case shortly, because we only have freedom of speech left,” Ivo Hristov also stated.
