Verden: Trial begins against soldier for murder

Ukraine joins criminal court without being prosecuted
Ukraine has joined the International Criminal Court, with one restriction: The country claims that it does not have to recognize the court’s jurisdiction for war crimes for seven years when it comes to Ukrainian citizens. The background to this is fears of the Ukrainian army that its actions in the fight against Russian forces could in some cases be charged as war crimes. The parliament in Kyiv voted today to ratify the so-called Rome Statute of the Criminal Court in The Hague. Sicily: More bodies recovered from luxury yacht
More than two days after a luxury yacht sank off the coast of Sicily, experts have recovered the first bodies from the hull. Special divers found a total of four dead people at a depth of around 50 meters inside the sailing boat and then brought them to the surface.
