Patrick Raharimanana case: Judgment adjourned until September 17

The president of the “Vitatsika io” party, Patrick Raharimanana, and his lawyers returned empty-handed from Anosy court yesterday. While they were waiting for the decision of his trial that was held on July 16, they still have to wait until September 17 to find out what happened to the accused. In fact, two charges were brought against him. This relates to the illegal interception of computer data and the unauthorized publication of closed door discussions or documents affecting public order or national security. The events took place on Wednesday May 15 when the former presidential candidate posted the agenda of the president’s visit on his Facebook page. Patrick Raharimanana was arrested at his home in Ambohipo on 16 May. After his interview at the Fiadanana Gendarmerie Criminal Investigation Group, he was transferred to the Anosy criminal brigade for further investigations. The case was adjourned on May 23 and Patrick Raharimanana was placed under legal supervision.
