Grand Pax is a queer singer-songwriter from London who makes synth bedroom pop. MB BB is the third single from their EP Crush. By Pax’ Music that is very personal is released Pax after a separation to catharsis.
With a refreshing look at mellow pop, MB BB a hypnotic piece of dreamy bedroom pop with hints of trip hop and R&B. Pax‘ delicate vocals shimmer alongside spacey synths and nostalgic basslines. MB BB shows Grand Pax at its most honest and raw.
She says about the track:
The song is about wanting to hold onto something but knowing it’s not possible. It’s the process of it leaving your body but acknowledging it as you let it go. It’s kind of conversational in the way that it’s like an admission. How we can overcomplicate situations that (when you look back), when you strip away the confines of time, are actually quite simple.
Die Crush-EP is after the second single Crush a song written during lockdown in 2020. Pax explains that it is about not being able to express the intensity of short-term feelings:
It’s about the intensity of short-term feelings, and the inability to express them. I wanted to release these tracks, despite them being kind of dated (in relation to new material) because they are part of a body of work that maps out chapters in time and preserves feelings exactly how they were at that time. Like a time capsule.
Crush was released on August 9, 2024.
The visualizer for Crush captures particularly well the melancholic mood of an ecstasy of love and longing, which is at the same time relaxed and radiates bliss.
