Dawid Kownacki is wearing the Fortuna jersey again! The 27-year-old attacker is returning to the Red-Whites on loan from SV Werder Bremen for the current 2024/25 season. Fortuna has an option to buy.
It was only in the summer of 2023 that Kownacki moved from Fortuna to Weser. There he made 22 appearances in the Bundesliga last season. Before that, the seven-time Polish international spent five seasons chasing goals for F95, interrupted by a six-month loan to Lech Poznan. Kownacki has so far played 102 competitive games for the Flingeraner, scoring 28 goals and assisting 17 goals. He will wear the number 24.
Klaus Allofs, Board Member for Sports & Communication: “We are very happy that we have managed to bring Dawid back to Fortuna. We have found a good solution with Werder Bremen as to how we can carry out this loan. Dawid has already proven in the past under Daniel Thioune as head coach that he can shape our offense and be a difference maker in the 2nd Bundesliga.”
Christian Weber, Sports Director: “We know about Dawid’s qualities and are convinced that he will quickly find his old strength. He knows our setting and will need little time to get used to the tactical processes, which is certainly an advantage at this point in the season.”
David Kownacki: “I am very happy to be back at Fortuna. I particularly remember my last season here very fondly and want to help the club achieve its goals. I am particularly looking forward to playing again in front of these great fans who have supported me for so many years.”
