Alianza FC will once again face an old acquaintance, one of its Costa Rican rivals with whom the Salvadoran team has no favorable history, and the whites have only beaten Liga Deportiva Alajuelense once. The capital team will host the red-and-blacks this Tuesday at 8 pm at the Cuscatlán stadium as part of the third match of the CONCACAF Central American Cup.
The capital team will host the “lions” today, Tuesday, in search of the three points, an objective that the league will not make easy for the Salvadorans because in the history between both teams there are six matches played between them where only on one occasion the whites beat the Ticos.
Alianza has faced the Alajuelense team six times, with four wins for the Costa Ricans and only one defeat, dating back to 1972, in the Central American Fraternity Cup, where the pachyderm team beat its rival by the minimum.
The last data that exists between both teams is from September 2022, first Alianza at home, at the Cuscatlán stadium, and then against Alajuelense at the Alejandro Morera Soto stadium, both matches meant two defeats for the Alianza team.
In the current regional competition, the Salvadoran team lost in its debut against Comunicaciones, by falling by the minimum, and with a goal in its own goal, and then at home it beat Luis Ángel el Firpo 5-2 and will face the league in its third match of the group stage.
While the league will arrive at the Copa Centroamericana undefeated after not losing for 12 consecutive games, it is also the current champion of the competition after winning the title in 2023, and as the highest scoring team in the history of the tournament with 31 goals.
To date, Group B, where Alianza is located, is as follows: Comunicaciones in first place with 2 wins, one draw and 7 points in total, Alajuelense with two wins and 6 points accumulated. Alianza with one win and one loss with 3 points accumulated, Firpo with one draw and 2 losses, with one point accumulated and Marathon in the basement with 0 points.
The prices for this meeting are: general sun $6, preferred north sun $8, north shade $12, mixed super stalls $22 (both teams), level 12 $35 and for fans south shade $15.
The Alianza club will enter the regional competition after having played the fifth date of the Apertura 2024 tournament in the local league of El Salvador, in which they tied by the minimum against 11 Deportivo. Currently, the Albos are fifth in the standings, with one game won, two draws in three games played and one to be rescheduled.
