Alex Cooper’s popular podcast “Call Her Daddy” is reportedly moving to SiriusXM for an estimated sizable amount of money.
Cooper has signed a major multi-year agreement with SiriusXM, securing exclusive advertising and distribution rights as well as additional content and events. The deal is valued at more than $100 million according to various sources and marks the start of exclusive content on SiriusXM next year.
SiriusXM has acquired exclusive global ad sales rights to all versions of Cooper’s Unwell Network, which includes podcasts such as “Hot Mess with Alix Earle,” “Pretty Lonesome with Madeline Argy,” “Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey” and “In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele.”
“Call Her Daddy,” which was the second most popular podcast on Spotify in 2023, trailing only “The Joe Rogan Experience,” has also moved to SiriusXM, the result of a three-year partnership worth $100 million.
In January, Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes left Amazon to transfer their podcast “SmartLess” to SiriusXM in a similar $100 million deal.
Although SiriusXM has a strong position in podcasting, Spotify has experienced financial challenges. To recoup the more than $1 billion invested in podcasting, including celebrity deals for unrealized podcasts and subsequently closed podcast studios, Spotify has had to make extensive job cuts.
Although $100 million seems like a significant amount for a podcast, Cooper had already amassed considerable wealth before. In 2021, Cooper left Barstool Sports in favor of a three-year Spotify deal reportedly worth $60 million.
Cooper said in a statement, “The Daddy Gang will always remain my highest priority, and with SiriusXM we will continue to innovate and deliver the best possible listening experience for my listeners.” The Daddy Gang refers to Cooper’s loyal followers.
Since its launch in 2018 with former co-host Sofia Franklyn, Cooper has claimed the title of most listened to female podcaster worldwide, SiriusXM announced. “Call Her Daddy” has hosted a variety of celebrities including musicians like Zayn Malik and Christina Aguilera and actors like Jane Fonda and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Although SiriusXM now handles advertising rights, “Call Her Daddy” and the Unwell Network will continue to be available on Spotify, where most listeners are still based.
The multi-year agreement with SiriusXM significantly expands Cooper’s business opportunities and provides exclusive advertising and distribution rights. With the migration of “Call Her Daddy” and other popular podcasts, SiriusXM is well positioned to strengthen its position in the competitive podcasting market.
