/ world today news/ Representatives of driving schools are protesting on June 27 at 9 a.m. in the capital.
Driving schools from all over the country are demanding a dialogue with the Ministry of Transport in connection with the changes in the conduct of driver’s license exams, the organizers of the protest report.
They want a separation between licensing, control and examination activities. According to representatives of the schools, there is currently no dialogue, their requests and proposals are not heard, therefore on June 27 they are calling a national protest in Sofia under the title “We are not corrupt”.
The representatives of driving schools from all over Bulgaria are united around the idea that there is a lack of dialogue, that their proposals and complaints are not heard, and that in order for the changes to be effective, the proposals of people with many years of experience in the field should also be considered.
The initiators of united driving schools “For better training, real reforms and against corruption” are behind the following theses:
– We are not a source of corruption. We are not part of a racketeering scheme. We are part of an important industry for society. We are training organizations.
– We work hard, fulfilling the increasingly high demands of customers and regulators – we don’t want the state to help us, we want it not to hinder us.
– We know that without investment there is no quality and we comply with this, regardless of the increasingly expensive requirements for the implementation of our activity, introduced with constant changes and new regulations.
– We want a partnership attitude, respect for the expertise and experience we have, because our common goal is for road drivers to be better prepared and to reduce accidents on the roads.
– We want a division between the permit, control and examination activities. Their concentration in AA “AA” is a prerequisite for corruption, administrative arbitrariness, racketeering and incompetence.
– We are ready for an expert and effective dialogue with the Minister, his experts, the people’s representatives and all institutions and civil organizations regarding what needs to be changed and improved in the system of training, conducting exams and evaluating future motor vehicle drivers. We believe that advisors for necessary and effective changes should be people with many years of experience in the industry.
– Talking through the media, pointing fingers, ignoring opinions, positions, expertise and imposing labels on the entire industry is not dialogue, but propaganda with an unclear (or clear to someone) goal.
– Driver training is a key part of road safety policy – numerous changes, both in it and in the Road Traffic Act and the Regulations for its implementation, implemented piecemeal, without strategic thought and understanding of the real problems and reasons that lead to the black statistics in Bulgaria are not reforms, but “going with the flow” and populism. The result is one and visible to all – the more thoughtless and hastily introduced changes, the more victims on the roads.
– We want a real, substantive and quality reform, including all aspects and good solutions regarding training, exams, control and road safety, conducted after real dialogue, objective and thorough impact assessments, financial assessment and environmental sustainability.
– If we don’t want to all be victims, let’s become co-authors of our better present and future.
