The Russian military blew up the headquarters with fighters from the “Storm Z” group and crossed over to the Ukrainian side

The Russian military blew up the headquarters where the Storm Z unit fighters were sleeping and went over to the Ukrainian side, joining the Russian Legion of Freedom. About this reports Main Intelligence Agency (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian side does not indicate where the headquarters was located. Also, at the time of publication, this information has not been independently verified.

“As a result of the successful operation of the project “I Want to Live” and the “Freedom of Russia” legion called “Kamysh,” a Russian military serviceman blew up the headquarters of the officers of the “Storm Z” battalion and it over to the Ukrainian side,” the GUR said in a statement.

According to Ukrainian information, in the winter of 2024, a Russian FPV pilot (drone pilot) with the call sign “Silver” contacted the “Freedom of Russia” legion and offered to cooperate. According to the army man, he was motivated to do this by systematic weapons and other crimes committed by his command, including extrajudicial executions, beatings and extortion.

According to the GUR, at an appropriate time, “Silver” threw a grenade into the ventilation hole in the basement of the headquarters of the “Storm Z” unit, where his battalion commander and other Russian officers were sleeping. In total, there were about 15 people in the room.

After this, “Silver” disappeared on a pre-planned route and entered the territory under the control of Ukraine. The GUR notes that it also provided valuable information to Ukraine about the location, number and intentions of Russian troops on a specific sector of the front.

After that, “Silver” joined the “Freedom of Russia” legion.
