If there is one Mallorca player who has won over the fans straight away, it has been the Colombian left-back Johan Mojica after his excellent match against Real Madrid in Son Moix and all after an express chronology:
Signing announcement: The Balearic club announces the signing of the player on July 23.
Copa América: the footballer competes in the Copa América with his national team, reaching the final which ends in defeat against Argentina.
Arrival in Palma: 5 August. Due to his international commitment, Mojica is enjoying his holidays while the rest of the Bermellon squad is already in pre-season.
Official presentation: RCD Mallorca will present the Colombian on August 8, in a joint presentation with the other two new faces of the squad, the Mallorcan Morey and the Japanese Asano.
Trofeo Ciudad de Palma: He made his debut in the red and white shirt on 10 August, five days after his arrival and two after his presentation. Mallorca and Bologna drew one to one and the Italians won in the penalty shoot-out. Mojica had a good performance in the first half.
Debut in the league: a week later, on 18 August, Mojica made his debut with Mallorca in the league at Son Moix and was given a standing ovation by the crowd after his great performance against the champions. The debut ended in a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid.
The Colombian player assesses the match against the Whites: “I feel very identified with my teammates and the adaptation has been very good. The way we compete is admirable. Playing against the best in the world is not easy and we hope that this will be a turning point to achieve consistency.”
On a personal level and in terms of his performance over 90 minutes, the player says that “I invest a lot in my health, I am very disciplined and that allows me to extend my career as much as possible. I have nothing to reproach myself for, I gave everything for the team and now I have to try to maintain that consistency for the good of the club that has trusted me.”
Finally, he also had words for the Mallorca fans: “It is very exciting that the fans encourage and support us like this, we hope to maintain this continuity throughout the season seeing how they have felt identified with how the team has competed.”
