NEW YORK – A teenager was fatally struck by a truck while riding a bicycle with two other teenagers in Brooklyn on Monday, according to local authorities.
The incident happened on the corner of Ditmas Avenue and Ocean Parkway shortly before 2 p.m. The truck driver made a right turn and hit the bike the teenagers were riding, according to police.
The teenagers, whose names have not been made public, were identified as: one 15 years old, another 16 years old and another whose age is unknown.
The 16-year-old was taken to Maimonides Hospital with serious injuries, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The 15-year-old suffered minor injuries and the other teenager was not injured.
According to the police, the driver of the truck remained at the scene after the accident.
A police investigation is ongoing. No further information was provided.
