Spanish police arrested a man suspected of murdering an eleven-year-old boy

Dozens of police patrols were looking for the perpetrator, who fled the scene, and a police helicopter was also involved in the action, said the TV station RTVE. In Mocejón, people gathered in front of the town hall on Sunday afternoon to observe a moment of silence to honor the boy who was killed. According to Spanish media, the town of 5,000 has declared three days of mourning.

Several official representatives from the city, the region and Spain expressed shock, disgust and sympathy after the murder. The head of the Castilla-La Mancha region, Emiliano García-Page, wrote on his account on the social network X: “I am shocked by the events that happened in Mocejón. I express my condolences to the family of the minority and also pray that the person who committed the crime will be found soon and brought to justice as soon as possible. Such conditions are unacceptable and must be a direct punishment.”

After the arrest of the suspect, many questions remain unanswered for now. Spanish authorities have ruled out a terrorist attack. They still don’t know the attacker’s motive. A spokesman for the victim’s family said it was clear the offender had acted deliberately as he had exposed himself on the football pitch.
