Even if they want me to distance myself from AMLO, I won’t do it, reiterates Sheinbaum

Manzanillo, Col. On the first joint tour of Chief Executive Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Claudia Sheinbaum, now in her capacity as president-elect, they inaugurated the first work: the Armería-Manzanillo aqueduct that will guarantee the water supply to the country’s main port.

As she did before her supporters the day before, Sheinbaum confirmed it this time before López Obrador himself: although our adversaries want us to distance ourselves from the president, there will be no such separation because it has always been, is and will always be an honor to be with Obrador.” Her statement triggered the audience present in the vicinity of the port to burst into chanting the refrain.

Later, when he took the floor, he once again expressed his satisfaction that Sheinbaum will succeed him in office because this way the validity of the social programs is assured not only because they will be included in the Constitution but also because of the values, commitment and good feelings of his successor.

An event to which the speech of the governor of Colima, Indira Vizcaíno, gave a dose of nostalgia because with the ceremony to present her with the certificate as president-elect this Wednesday, it represented an important change and opened the countdown to the end of the six-year term.

“It’s a cycle that we are creating. It’s a moment of nostalgia for obvious reasons,” said the Biscayan.

In this setting that was both festive and farewell, Sheinbaum expressed her respect for the leadership of López Obrador, whom she described as the best president of Mexico. There has been no president in the history of Mexico who has emerged with the popularity and popular affection that López Obrador has.

“We will not forget where we come from or the essence of Mexican humanism: for the good of all, the poor first, not only because it is humanistic and fraternal but because it yields results. When we support those who have been left behind, we have a growing economy, it is enough for everyone. Governing by humanism and conviction. Nor and also with the principle of zero corruption in government… always governing close to the people, in the territory.”

At the time, López Obrador insisted that he could already hand over the presidential sash to Sheinbaum, but there are still a few days left. He claimed the virtues of Sheinbaum and boasted (“I’m going to throw oil, he said”) that he has been the only president in years to reduce poverty in Mexico.
