Feyenoord had an easy afternoon visiting PEC Zwolle. In Overijssel, the team of trainer Brian Priske won 1-5, which meant the first three points for the Rotterdammers.
Igor Paixao opened the score after just four minutes of play. Hugo Bueno made his debut and was immediately important with an assist. Despite the early lead for Feyenoord, they did not manage to increase the lead in the first 45 minutes. Only in the second half did the Rotterdammers extend their lead through Calvin Stengs and Dávid Hancko. The third goal initially seemed offside, but was still considered valid by the VAR.
Santiago Giménez was important with two goals. The Mexican scored the fourth and fifth goals, which seemed to put Feyenoord on the way to a 5-0 victory. Filip Krastev thought differently. The Bulgarian smashed the ball wonderfully into the top corner behind the helpless Timon Wellenreuther shot.
This was the perfect answer from Feyenoord after a mistake in the first round against Willem II. PEC Zwolle is still without points after two rounds and hopes to change that in Nijmegen against NEC next weekend. Feyenoord hopes to continue this line in the Rotterdam derby at Het Kasteel against Sparta.
