The former residence of San Francisco will host eight migrant families in September through Emet Arco Iris – Televisión Baena

The facilities of the former San Francisco residence in the town of Baena will be filled with life again from next September with the reception of eight migrant families with children, thanks to the Emet Arco Iris Foundation, which is already working to provide these facilities with a new activity related to the third sector.

The Mayor of Baena, María Jesús Serrano, made this announcement that will allow “these facilities to be brought back into operation through a social and humanitarian project” and recalled that “since the residence was closed in August 2023, the government team has not stopped working to bring the building back to life”.

Serrano explained that “Emet Arco Iris is a non-profit foundation with 40 years of experience and a great impact on the work it does” and indicated that “it was created to address the problems of people with some type of addiction and has since diversified into social and humanitarian activities”.

The mayor of Baena has pointed out that “this project will give life back to this centre by welcoming migrant women with children in their care and people with addictions” and has specified that they are going to “work hard so that the work on La Reguera is soon started and a comprehensive intervention is carried out”.

The socialist councillor has insisted that they are “convinced that the project to be developed will be a boost for Baena as a whole because it will generate activity in the building, create direct and indirect jobs and will lead to an increase in the population”.

For her part, the director of the Emet Arco Iris Foundation, Auxiliadora Fernández, said that they are characterized “by wanting to be part of the Baena community” and announced that they are going to launch the Ödos Program of her foundation, which consists of welcoming migrant women with children and accompanying them to their inclusion in the host society.

Fernández stressed that “San Francisco offers a welcoming space that will allow the reception of eight families made up of women with children and work on their integration so that they enrich the town, just as they have done in the town of Montilla, where this project is already implemented.”
