3 PDIP Choices in Jakarta Gubernatorial Election After RK Gets KIM Plus Support

Degrees PDIP to name pairs of candidates in the DKI Jakarta (Pilgub) 2024 Governor Election is becoming increasingly narrow. The party with the bull’s head symbol is now facing the Indonesian Progressive Coalition (KIM) which carries it Ridwan Kamil.

In the Jakarta gubernatorial election, KIM, which is a coalition party that supports Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, welcomed other parties outside the coalition. Currently, PKS is almost certain to join the KIM bandwagon.

Suswono, a PKS official who was also Minister of Agriculture under Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), is said to be a candidate for Ridwan Kamil’s running mate in Jakarta.

Then, NasDem turned its back on Anies Baswedan and joined KIM. PKB also gave a strong signal to support RK.

Therefore, RK and Suswono are almost certain to have the support of 10 of the 11 parties in the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

Now, PDIP is left alone with 15 seats in the DKI Jakarta DPRD. The party led by Megawati Soekarnoputr cannot name its own candidate pair. Based on the regional election law, at least 22 seats are required as a condition to nominate a candidate pair for deputy governor in Jakarta.

With the state of the political map, PDIP has only three options in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. First, enter KIM’s vehicle as well as Ridwan Kamil-Suswono’s support.

If PDIP joins, RK-Suswono will be supported by all parties in the DKI DPRD with a total of 106 seats. Later, they will face candidates from the independent Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana path, which is likely to be endorsed by the KPU.

The second option, PDIP forms a coalition with PKB. To date, PKB has not officially announced its position on joining KIM.

The issue of the PDIP and PKB coalition has come up recently. Several inside PDIP sources said that PKB had agreed to form a coalition in the DKI gubernatorial election. If they form a coalition, these two parties will have 25 DPRD seats until they meet the requirements.

Then, thirdly, PDIP does not support anyone in the gubernatorial election of Jakarta 2024 This option is allowed by the KPU.

Meanwhile, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto admitted that he was confident that PDIP would find a coalition partner to fulfill the requirements to nominate candidates for governor in Jakarta Pilkada 2024.

Hasto also recalled PDI’s efforts to challenge the decision of the Medan Congress to nominate Soerjadi as general president in 1996.

“Yes, politics is a religion. In the past, when Mrs. Mega led the PDI, the PDI office was attacked. We believed, we sued there more than 200 provinces and cities, finally there were judges who had a conscience,” said Hasto. at PDIP Party School, Jakarta, Saturday (17/8).
