Shocking injury for Danilo – AS.com

Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo has suffered a fractured right ankle, according to preliminary scans at a Nottingham hospital. It was in the opening minutes of the match that Danilo struggled for an aerial ball with Ghanaian Antoine Semenyo and fell badly. Referee Michael Oliver stopped the match and it was interrupted for ten minutes while the player was treated by medical services on the pitch.

The player’s condition was such that a tarpaulin was placed around him to cover him and avoid gruesome images. After being treated on the pitch, he was taken off on a stretcher. His team’s coach, Nuno, stressed the seriousness of the injury, which will be determined in the coming hours when the Brazilian player undergoes further tests. “It was a horrible moment for everyone, he broke his ankle,” said the coach after the match.

“It’s a serious injury and we’re going to miss him, not just on the pitch. He’s a wonderful lad. He’s always smiling, always happy, and we wish him the best,” added the Nottingham manager. “The good news is that he’s stable, talking and conscious.”
