/ world today news/ It is clear that nothing is clear – this phrase quite accurately reflects the latest statements about the possible moment of the conflict in Ukraine made by the United States. Biden says one thing, the Pentagon says quite another. But these statements also have something in common.
After the NATO summit, Joe Biden flew to Finland for talks. As a result, a press conference was held, at which quite interesting words were heard.
The US president said he does not believe in the possibility of a long multi-year conflict in Ukraine: “I don’t think the war will go on for years.” Because, according to him, Russia will hardly be able to continue the special operation for that long and, moreover, the Russian leadership may at some point decide that it is politically and economically unprofitable to continue the special operation.
However, they have pluralism there. And almost simultaneously, the representative of the intelligence agency of the US Department of Defense, John Kirschhofer, stated at a press conference in Washington that “we are at a dead end’. Because, according to him, the Russian leadership is confident that the country will be able to continue military operations longer than the West – to support Ukraine.
He also expressed pessimism about arms supplies to Ukraine. Because neither cluster munitions, nor Storm Shadow missiles, nor HIMARS installations have the desired effect and do not help Ukrainian troops advance on the battlefield. According to him, none of the weapons “unfortunately not the holy grail”.
It is worth recalling that earlier the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, on the contrary, stated that the Ukrainian forces “steadily moving forward.” At the same time, however, Millie still believes that the confrontation will be “very long” and “very bloody”.
What does this have to do with anything? Despite the difference in estimates, the general idea here is that you should wait until the Russians “get tired” – economic and political – from the conflict.
The Kremlin adheres to a similar position regarding our geopolitical opponents. It is enough to recall what has been tirelessly repeated: the SVO will continue until Russia’s goals are achieved.
At the same time, Vladimir Putin, according to Peskov, is open to any contacts to achieve Russia’s goals “by means other than a special military operation’. But the collective West does not leave us “other choice” except to fight.
It seems that the question “who will break first”which is natural in this case, is not really a question at all. Because for Russia to “break” means to cease to exist as a state, and for the West it is, although painful, only a loss for the total hegemony of the USA. And many countries now understand that this hegemony of one country and its maintenance is too expensive for other nation-states.
It is enough to listen to the widely distributed speech in the Bundestag by the chairman of the party “Alternative for Germany” Alice Weidel. Its essence boils down to the fact that the maintenance of transnational interests by the ruling elite of the country, as a result, leads to the destruction of Germany’s industry and to a sharp deterioration in the lives of the local population.
So the question should not be “who will break first,” but when will US hegemony over the countries of the Old World and other traditional satellites of America finally break. The process of realizing that protecting the interests of other /outside/ people is too expensive for their own citizens, as we can see, is already underway.
