Singer Bebe Rexha accuses an airport staff member of threatening her because of her Albanian origin.

On her Instagram story on Saturday, the singer, who was raised in the United States with Albanian roots, posted emotional messages. She wrote: “Lufthansa, I was threatened because of my belief that the security guard was Albanian. I spoke to him in Albanian, asking where my ticket was, and now he is stopping me from boarding the plane.”

She also said: “I think it’s a hate crime because I’m Albanian.” She said he continued to psychologically harass her, and unfortunately, none of the Lufthansa women intervened or expressed concern.

The famous singer-songwriter wrote that she had never been so emotionally exhausted. She added that Lufthansa had contacted her directly, but she is demanding a thorough investigation.

In a statement to CNN on Sunday, a Lufthansa spokesperson said: “We have reached out to Bebe Rexha to understand the situation and are currently conducting an internal investigation into the matter.”

“As a global airline, we connect people and nations around the world,” the spokesperson continued, insisting: “We do not tolerate discriminatory behavior.”

Since her 2017 breakthrough with the country-pop hit “Meant to Be,” Rexha has been known for hits including “Me, Myself & I,” “In the Name of Love” and the official UK number one single of 2022, “I’m Good (Blue).”

Despite her celebrity fame thanks to hits like “Me, Myself & I” and “I’m Good (Blue),” Bebe Rexha faced discrimination during her latest flight, raising concerns about how the entertainment industry handles hate crimes against celebrities. The incident highlights the need for increased awareness and action against such incidents in the entertainment industry.
