War in Ukraine: Dangerous Escalation – They blew up another bridge in Kursk – 2024-08-18 16:06:13

Dangerous Escalation in the Ukraine War. Kiev struck a new blow to Moscow by bombing another bridge in the Russian Kursk region, to cause problems for Russia’s military operations in the region, according to what the Ukrainian Air Force announced today, Sunday.

“One less bridge. The Air Force continues to hit the enemy’s logistics capabilities with precision airstrikes,” Air Force Chief Mykola Oleschuk said in a Telegram video of the attack.

It is the second bridge to be destroyed by Ukrainian forces in recent days, and will further hamper Russia’s ability to resupply troops, hoping to prevent further Ukrainian incursions into Russian territory.

The moment Ukrainians blow up the bridge in Kursk

It is recalled that with the aim of preventing the resupply of the Russian army, the Ukrainians blew up a bridge on the Sheim River, cutting off the Glushovsky district of 20,000 inhabitants.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced that Western missiles, possibly American-made, were used to bombard it, killing volunteers who were trying to evacuate civilians. The bridge at Shem was used to supply the Russian troops.

Russian ballistic missile strike in Kyiv

At the same time, Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on Kiev today for the third time this month and, according to preliminary data, all the missiles were destroyed as they approached the city, the military administration of the Ukrainian capital announced.

“This is already the third ballistic missile strike against the capital in August, with breaks of exactly six days between each attack,” Serhii Popko, the head of Kyiv’s military administration, wrote on Telegram.

“According to preliminary information, the Russians have probably again used, for the third time in a row, North Korean ballistic missiles.”

Reuters was unable to independently confirm the type of missiles fired.

In addition, Ukrainian Air Force Chief Mykola Oleschuk announced that Ukrainian forces destroyed eight Russian attack drones and five of eight missiles fired overnight over the Kyiv, Sumy and Poltava regions, adding that none of the said weapon did not find its target and that no casualties or damage were reported.

Kyiv officials also said there were no casualties or damage in the capital.

However, Kyiv regional governor Ruslam Kravchenko said two private residences were destroyed and 16 others were damaged by debris that fell after intercepting missiles and drones.
