Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez is suddenly back in the mix for Atalanta after PSG swooped for Ademola Lookman, with the added bonus of upsetting Juventus.
The transfer market has been dominated by domino effects this summer and a new piece has come into play.
Lookman is not included in Atalanta’s squad for tomorrow’s Serie A trip to Lecce, amid reports from Sky Sport Italia that he has asked to be left out following an approach from Paris Saint-Germain.
It’s a similar situation to the one that rules out Teun Koopmeiners because he is pushing for a transfer to Juventus.
Atalanta turn to Juventus target Nico Gonzalez
With this in mind, the idea that La Dea will seek Nico Gonzalez to replace him because Lookman takes on a different look.
Indeed, the player is said to have agreed a deal with Juventus, so snatching him from under their noses would look like transfer revenge for Koopmeiners.
The Argentina international is also best placed to replace Lookman, being able to play on the right or left flank.
It remains to be seen whether Atalanta can convince Nico Gonzalez to join them rather than Juventus, but Fiorentina are willing to sell on loan with an obligation to buy for a total fee of €30m.
