German coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s Spanish coach, expects that his partner Ilkay Gundogan will remain in the ranks of the Catalan team this season, despite speculation about his possibility to leave Camp Nou.
Gundogan, the German national team midfielder, moved to Barcelona in 2023, coming from Manchester City, and has a year left on his contract.
Spanish media reports said Gundogan could leave Barcelona, following the arrival of Dani Olmo, amid reports of Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho’s interest in bringing him in.
Flick, in press reports after the 2-1 win over Valencia, at the opening of the Spanish League campaign in Barcelona, said: “He suffered an eye injury on Monday, which is why he stayed at home . He said, “I appreciate him as a player and as a person. I have spoken to him a lot, but it is something between me and him, and we have a good relationship. I know him well. wait.”
