Regularly twice a year, Czechs remember the famous Nagano. Always in February, when the anniversary of the memorable Winter Olympics comes, and then in the summer, in August, when there is another anniversary: the death of the main architect of the greatest hockey victory in Czech history.
Ivan Hlinka, a legendary coach and player, died exactly 20 years ago in the wreckage of the Superb in which he was leaving Karlovy Vary for the Golden Stick award. A tragic accident ended the life of a three-time world champion, coach of world champions, but above all the coach of the 1998 Nagano Olympic champions.
Two decades after the unexpected loss, Czech hockey opened a special exhibition in honor of Ivan Hlinka in the Hall of Fame.
