Manchester United entered their 100th anniversary season in England’s top flight with a 1-0 win over Fulham. The first goal of the new season of the Premier League was scored by debutant Joshua Zirkzee in the 87th minute.
Dutch striker Zirkzee joined United from Bologna a month ago for more than €40m and made his debut for the new club after an hour of play. Three minutes before the end of regular playing time, the 23-year-old EURO participant dribbled into Fulham’s goal a cross pass from another substitute player, Alejandro Garnach.
In addition to Zirkzee, fresh reinforcements from Bayern Munich Matthijs de Ligt and Núsajír Mázráví also played their first match for United at Old Trafford on Friday.
