A thunderstorm warning was issued yesterday for today. A thunderstorm cell has already reached the south-western part of Vienna. When these cells head towards Vienna from the southwest, they usually lose strength before reaching Vienna, but this is not the case today, explains Gerhard Hohenwarter from Geosphere Austria. Another thunderstorm cell has already formed over the Danube and is now spreading to large parts of the city. As readers reported, it is already hailing in Vienna.
Centre of the thunderstorm cell very intense
The Geosphere emphasizes that the center of the storm cell is very intense. The inner city is already affected. The extreme southeast is not currently affected, but this could still happen, says Hohenwarter.

The more violent thunderstorms are expected today, but tomorrow they should not be as intense.
