Barons commemorate Peter Schmitt
In honor of long-time Black Barons supporter Peter Schmitt, who died suddenly and unexpectedly in early July 2024 at the age of 65, the Black Barons will host the “Peter Schmitt Bowl” at the first home game of the season on Sunday, August 25, 2024.
Herne football icon Schmitt was a long-time member of the Black Barons and a veteran of Herne football. He played for the Herne Tigers, Dortmund Giants, Bochum Miners and Herne Ravens, among others. Schmitt was also a district councilor for the SPD in Eickel.
First U10 tournament, then the seniors
The Barons have announced a full day of football at the Horst Stadium in Herne. It starts at 11 a.m. with a U10 tournament, and from 3 p.m. the seniors will play their first home game of the season against the Cologne Ronin.
A varied program with a bouncy castle, what they say is high-quality catering, music, AI Fitness Wheel of Fortune and cheerleading by the BTC Claws is provided. Entry is free all day. “Come along and support the Barons,” the club concludes.
